The following information is for students currently studying at Lund University.
Lund University Global Scholarship is a selective, merit-based scholarship that current international students with top academic results from Lund University can apply for to cover tuition fees for their continued studies at Lund University.
Who is eligible?
The student applying must already be a student at Lund University and wish to continue his/her studies and must also be a citizen of a country outside the European Union/European Economic Area (and Switzerland) and be required to pay tuition fees.
The Lund University Global Scholarship programme is not open for students from the following 12 countries: Bangladesh, Bolivia, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.

Lund University takes part in several Erasmus Mundus Action 2 projects. This programme promotes cooperation, development and mobility between higher education institutions in Europe and a great variety of non-European countries and regions around the world. Scholarships are provided for the mobility of students, researchers and academic staff. If you are from a non- EU/EEA country or region that is included in one of the projects, you may be able to apply for a scholarship to cover the tuition fees and living costs when studying at Lund University. To be eligible you cannot have been in a EU/EEA country for more than 12 months during the past 5 years.
Please note that some of the projects only offer scholarships to PhD students or to Post-Docs and staff, whereas others also have scholarships for Master’s and Bachelor’s students. Not all programmes or courses are available via the projects and therefore you must check if the programme or course that you wish to take is on offer within the specific projects.

Every semester current students of Lund University are invited to apply for University and nation scholarships. In the autumn semester, the application period is usually during September and in the spring semester during February. In spring 2011 there were around 861 applicants, of whom around 25% were awarded a scholarship. The amounts varied from SEK 500 to SEK 15 600.
Please note that for most of the current student scholarships, you must have studied at least two semesters at Lund University in order to be eligible to receive a scholarship.
Also note that most of the current student scholarships are only open to Swedish students due to the nature of the scholarship set up (eg connections to a Swedish family name, Swedish city etc). However, there are some scholarships that are open to international students currently studying at Lund University.
Travel scholarships for undergraduate and Master’s students are announced in February each year. Travel scholarships are awarded for study abroad, travel in connection with degree projects and for foreign travel that benefits a student’s university studies in some way. In spring 2011 there were 205 applications and 30% of applicants were awarded a scholarship. In total, SEK 373 300 was distributed.

The time taken to process applications varies for the various different scholarships. Decisions are published and sent to the successful applicants. The scholarships are usually paid out in the same semester as they are announced.

Remember to read the announcement of scholarships carefully before applying to make sure that you are eligible to apply and to check what information should be submitted with the application for it to be complete. You often have to have studied for at least two semesters to get a scholarship.
You can only apply for the scholarships via the application system, and only during the application period.
Application is via an online form in the application system.
Only credits from Lund University are counted and all credits are registered in our study documentation system Ladok. Check with your department that all your credits have been entered into Ladok and that your address details are correct.
Please update Ladok so that your official personal identification number is recorded (not the temporary personal number you were given when you first arrived in Sweden).
Generally, all applicants are ranked according to field, grades and study tempo. For some scholarships priority is given to, for example, relatives of the donor or students in certain disciplines. The announcement gives short descriptions of the purposes of the different foundation and any priorities given.
Only those who have been awarded a scholarship will receive notification, but it is possible to see in the application system whether a decision has been made and the outcome of your application.
