Study Abroad Opportunities

As a current Bachelor's or Master's student at Lund University, you may have the opportunity to study abroad at another university. In general there are three different ways to study abroad:

Department and faculty agreements:

Subject/area specific agreements with mainly European universities. The application deadline and more information about eligibility can be found at the department’s webpages, or you can visit them during office hours.

University-wide agreements, LUUP:

Agreements are open to students in all disciplines. If you are a Bachelor's or Master's student interested in exchange studies, you must first ask your programme coordinator if the programme allows exchange studies. The LUUP agreements are handled by the International Student Mobility Group at Lund University.

  • The application period for universities in North America, Latin America, Lebanon and Asia is between 1 October and 1 November.
  • The application period for universities in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Nordic countries, Russia and summer courses is between 15 February and 15 March.

  • Information meeting about the application period for universities in Australia, New Zealand, Europe, the Nordic countries, Russia and summer courses: 22 February, 12-13 Geocentrum 1, Room 111

Note that there is strong competition for a place at some of the more popular universities.

Please download the "Exchange studies - LUUP handbook for applications" (Pdf 431 Kb) for more information on how to apply.

For more information about exchange studies via LUUP, please visit the International Desk at Sandgatan 3.

On your own:

You can apply to universities abroad on your own.  For this process it is up to you to arrange everything and if there are fees, you need to pay those yourself. You also need to arrange your own valid insurance.

International networks and programmes

Lund University is a member of several international networks and programmes. Some of these offer study abroad opportunities, often including scholarships. Read more under the Global cooperation section.
