The following information is for current students at Lund University.
For students who pay tuition fees (generally all non-EU/EEA students), you pay your first instalment of the tuition fee for the first semester of studies before you arrive at Lund University due to the Swedish Migration Board requirements. Thereafter, an invoice is generated and sent to you via the Student Portal in advance of each following semester of studies.
The deadlines to pay are:
The instructions and accepted methods of payment are explained in the Student Portal. Questions can be directed to tuitionfees@eken.lu.se.
Please note that it can take a few days after your payment has been made until it is noted in LADOK and you are able to register in the Student Portal for the courses/the semester you are about to start.
Due to the fluctuation of currency exchange rates, there may be instances where a student inadvertently pays slightly more than the required tuition fee instalment or slightly less than the required tuition fee instalment.
Lund University has the following policy regarding overpayment/underpayment and the resulting refund or generation of a further invoice:

Degree programmes are made up of several courses, each worth a certain value of ECTS credits. In a degree programme you usually complete 30 ECTS credits per semester, or a total of 60 ECTS credits per year. Note that some degree programmes have a structure where you complete slightly more than 30 ECTS credits in one semester and slightly less than 30 ECTS credits the next semester. However the overall total of credits for the full degree programme will still be either 60 ECTS for a 1-year programme, 120 ECTS credits for a 2-year programme or 180 ECTS credits for a 3-year programme.
If you are a non-EU/EEA student and you would like to study more ECTS credits than what is required for your degree programme (for example, if you wish to take an extra elective course option than what is required, or if you wish to take a separate free-standing single subject course on offer at Lund University), then generally you will need to pay a tuition fee for these extra ECTS credits (the extra course/courses).
Extra ECTS credits (the courses) will show in your LADOK record at Lund University, which is checked each semester. If you have exceeded the number of credits required for your degree programme within a semester of studies (i.e. by more than 3 ECTS credits), an invoice will be generated and sent to you for payment via the Student Portal.
For students who have been awarded the Lund University Global Scholarship or a Swedish Institute scholarship, the scholarship money can only be applied to the degree programme to which it was awarded. Therefore if you wish to take additional ECTS credits (i.e. another course outside of the ECTS requirements of the programme to which you are enrolled), then you will be invoiced for those extra ECTS credits.
For students who have been awarded an Erasmus Mundus Action 2 scholarship, this can only be applied to the programme or courses to which it was awarded. If you wish to take any additional ECTS credits you will have to pay tuition fees for those credits.
