Erasmus Mundus Action 2
Lund University has participated in an EU-funded scholarship programme for higher education and research since 2007. Lund University coordinates the Erasmus Mundus Action 2 project Asia Regional (China, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal)

SASNET
SASNET is a national network for research, education and information about South Asia and is based at Lund University.

Centre for East and South East Asian Studies
The Centre for East and South-East Asian Studies was established in 1996 with the aim of stimulating research and education focused upon East and South-East Asia, particularly in the fields of social sciences, economics and humanities.
Lund University’s strategy in the region
According to the University’s Strategic Plan cooperation with the Middle East, East and South East Asia and Southern Asia shall be developed further. The relations with universities and other relevant institutes in the developing countries shall be strengthened. Special initiatives could also involve developing the strategy in certain geographical areas or countries.
In 2007 the University Vice-Chancellor appointed a group to create a plan for collaboration between Lund University and China. Based on the group’s plan the Vice-Chancellor appointed a dedicated project manager, Jan-Olof Nilsson, for the coordination of China activities at the University.
