LU Accommodation

LU Accommodation is part of Student Services at Lund University and offers housing for international students. LU Accommodation manages a limited number of rooms and flats in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. There is a great demand for housing and unfortunately we are not able to guarantee housing for all international students.

The flats are normally reserved for couples where both applicants have been accepted for studies at Lund University. Please also note that we are unable to offer family accommodation.

LU Accommodation is mainly a service for international exchange and degree-seeking students. PhD students and international guests can normally not receive housing through LU Accommodation and should contact their department for help and advise regarding housing.

Important rental information

Rooms offered by LU Accommodation are rented for the full academic semester, from the 15th of August to the 31st of December 2013 (autumn semester) and from the beginning of January to the end of June 2014 (spring semester). This is regardless of your arrival date. When you have received your room offer your rental period will be stated on the confirmation letter. The maximum rental period is until the end of an academic year (to the beginning of June), regardless of when you arrive! (However – if you are taking courses during the summer you can extend your contract until 18 July.) Because of this, if you are staying longer than to the end of the academic year it is very important that you register with AF Bostäder as soon as possible to get on their waiting list for accommodation for when you have to leave your LU Accommodation room.

There is however an exception for non EU/EEA students who are required to pay tuition fees and are admitted to full-time studies of at least 30 ECTS. These students have a housing guarantee for the normal duration of the study programme (1-3 years). Please note that you pay rent also during the summer months in most housing areas.

Costs

The rent varies depending on the area and the type of room, but is currently set at between SEK 13 000 and SEK 22 000 per semester. This includes electricity, water, heating and use of kitchen and laundry facilities. Students sharing a corridor often agree on a corridor fee of about SEK 200 per month for common supplies. In addition to your rent, you will also have to pay a fixed deposit before you move in and it will be refunded when you move out.
