International Housing Office

The International Housing Office is part of Student Services at Lund University and offers housing for international students. The International Housing Office manages a limited number of rooms and flats in Lund, Helsingborg and Malmö. There is a great demand for housing and unfortunately we are not able to guarantee housing for all international students.

The International Housing Office manages student rooms and flats. The flats are normally reserved for couples where both applicants have been accepted for studies at Lund University. Please also note that we are unable to offer family accommodation.

Important rental information

Rooms offered by the International Housing Office are rented for the full academic semester. This is regardless of your arrival date. Therefore, we recommend that you arrive on the official Arrival Day.
The maximum rental period is until the end of an academic year, regardless of when you arrive! Because of this, if you are staying longer than to the end of the academic year it is very important that you register with AF Bostäder to get on their waiting list for accommodation for when you have to leave your International Housing Office room.

There is however an exception for non EU/EEA students who are required to pay tuition fees and are admitted to full-time studies of at least 30 ECTS. These students have a housing guarantee for the normal duration of the study programme (1-3 years). Please note that you pay rent also during the summer months in most housing areas.

The rental period for spring 2012 is 10 January 2012 to 8 June 2012.

Costs

The rent varies depending on the area and the type of room, but is currently set at between SEK 13 000 and SEK 22 000 per semester. This includes electricity, water, heating and use of kitchen and laundry facilities. Students sharing a corridor often agree on a corridor fee of about SEK 200 per month for common supplies.

Payment

Payment is made in advance in four or five instalments. You will know that your housing is confirmed by checking your online status. There you will also find instructions and deadline for the first payment. Once your room has been confirmed, you will have 10 days to make the prepayment. It is very important that you make this payment on time to secure your reservation! The room will be cancelled if the payment is not made on time. The International Housing Office will not confirm your first payment. However you can keep checking the status of your application online to see if your payment has been received by the International Housing Office. Please note that it is your responsibility to check the online status for any news about your housing application. The International Housing Office will not send you any additional emails.

"As soon as I got to Spoletorp International Students' House, I liked the room and the friendly atmosphere in the hall of residence. It's a bit hard being away from home for a year but as soon as I got settled in I knew I was going to like it here and make lots of friends."
