Once you have been admitted to a programme at Lund University and accepted your place, you will be sent an email with more information regarding how to apply for housing.
Follow the link in the email to the housing application page and fill out your application online. You can always follow the status of your application. Your housing application will be confirmed as soon as we have received your first tuition fee payment. When you apply, you will be able to state your housing preferences and the sooner you pay your tuition fee and the housing application can be confirmed, the more housing options will be available. Therefore, it is very important that you pay your tuition fee as soon as possible after you have accepted your place.
With your housing confirmation you will receive information on when the first rent instalment is due. Normally, you will have ten days to pay the first instalment. Please note that it is not enough to pay your tuition fee to secure your housing, you must also pay the first rent instalment. You can follow the status of your application online to see if we have received your payment.
We advise you to make the housing application as soon as possible. The sooner you apply, the bigger the chance of receiving a housing offer that matches your preferences. To be guaranteed housing at your arrival we ask you apply no later than the 15 July (for the autumn semester). If we receive your application later than that we cannot guarantee that a room is available for you when you arrive. You will instead receive the next available room.
The housing guarantee means that you are guaranteed to receive a housing offer from the International Housing Office at Lund University. As a non-EU/EEA student required to pay tuition fees, you will be able to keep your housing for the normal duration of the Master’s or Bachelor’s programme to which you are admitted (1-3 years). However, in order to keep your housing guarantee the following conditions apply:
As a Bachelor's or Master's student who has been granted a US student loan or a scholarship covering both tuition fees and living costs (e.g the Swedish Institute Scholarship), you are not required to pay your first rent instalment until you arrive in Lund. However, you still need to accept your housing offer within ten days after the confirmation has been sent to you.
Students coming to Lund on a Linnaeus-Palme scholarship or students from the University of California coming to Lund on the bilateral exchange agreement also have a housing guarantee. The terms and conditions for your housing payments will be stated in the information sent to you from your coordinator or contact person at Lund University.
Please note that it is very important that you keep deadlines for payments. If the payment is not made on time you will lose your housing guarantee.
