How to apply for housing at LU Accommodation

The conditions around applying for housing at LU Accommodation are slightly different depending on whether you are an exchange student coming to Lund through an exchange agreement with a partner university or if you are coming independently, to do a Master’s programme for instance.

Eligibility and when to apply

Exchange students

To be eligible for a room through LU Accommodation we must have received notice from an international coordinator at Lund University that you have been accepted for studies. You will receive the link to the application form from your international coordinator.

• Autumn semester: The application period for exchange students applying for autumn 2013 housing is expected to be 29 April to 7 May.
• Spring semester: The application period for exchange students applying for spring 2014 housing is expected to be open 1 September - 25 October.

Please apply as early as possible!

Master's students and other non-exchange students

To be eligible for a room through LU Accommodation we must have received notice from the Admissions Office that you have been accepted as a student at Lund University. Please note that unless you are a student with a housing guarantee it is not certain that LU Accommodation can offer you a room even if you apply on time. You are advised to apply for housing as soon as you have received your proof of admission. Your study coordinator will send you a link to the online application form. In that email you will also be informed about the application period. Rooms will be allocated through a lottery. Please note that if you are a student coming on your own (not through an exchange agreement) to do single subject courses it is unlikely that LU Accommodation will be able to offer you housing, especially during the autumn semester. Similarly, if you have applied for a programme/course in spring and therefore not been able to apply for housing until the summer, you will unfortunately not have priority for housing.

How to apply

Once you have received a link to the housing booking system, you can create an account and log in to fill out an application online. Please note that you will not be able to make any changes in your application once it has been submitted. You application will be processed by LU Accommodation with your preferences as guidelines. We will try to find housing in accordance with your stated preferences, but please note that there is no guarantee that you will get offered housing in your preferred area. 

There is no guarantee that you will get housing through LU Accommodation even if you applied on time.

After you have applied

Once your application has been processed and we have a housing offer for you, you will receive an email with information about the offer and further instructions on payment and signing your contract

Accepting the housing offer

Once you have received the housing offer email, you log in to the housing booking system to receive detailed information about the housing option, the rent and the required deposit. This is also where you can accept the offer and make the first rent instalment and pay the deposit. You will also sign your contract online. Please note that the housing offer is only available to you during a limited time period and if you do not accept the offer before the deadline, it will be offered to another applicant.

Once you have paid and signed the contract, you will receive a confirmation email from LU Accommodation.
