Study Abroad Programmes

A unique way to experience Scandinavia

Lund University offers Study Abroad programmes designed for non-European students who are looking to experience a unique study abroad opportunity in Europe/Scandinavia.

The focus of the Study Abroad Programmes currently on offer is Swedish language studies. Additional programmes in other subjects are being planned for the future.

ECTS credits are awarded for successfully completed courses and students receive a transcript and certificate. For students currently studying a degree, your home university will need to approve whether the ECTS credits from these programmes can be transferred to your current degree programme.

The programmes are taught at university undergraduate level (Bachelor's level) however they are not considered to be part of a Bachelor's degree in Sweden.

Study Abroad: Swedish Language Programme

Through the Study Abroad Swedish Language programme students will get a chance to come to Sweden and acquire and develop a profound knowledge of the Swedish language. This is the programme for students who have a Swedish family connection, a special interest in Scandinavia or want to go on to study courses and programmes taught in Swedish at higher education institutes in Sweden in the future.

Students who complete Swedish language studies up to level 8 and who successfully complete the final test equivalent to the TISUS test are then able to apply for studies taught in Swedish at a Swedish Higher Education Institution.

Ryan Casanova, USA

"One thing I really enjoyed about studying Swedish here at Lund University was the hands-on teaching style, doing group activities and working together with my fellow students. The workload was intense, but manageable and my teacher was helpful and accessible for extra help outside of class. As everyone is at the same level, it's fun watching everyone progress and there is a high morale level."
