What Lecturer Maj-Lena says about the Master's in Atmospheric Sciences and Biogeochemical Cycles
Maj-Lena Linderson, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Physical Geography and Ecosystem Science
"The programme is about environmental matters in general, but climate change in particular. The Master’s programme is based on lectures, seminars and laboratory sessions. Certain courses also include fieldwork, such as trips to Abisko in northern Sweden to study the arctic environment.
I really like the wide concepts of this programme; how tit gives students a good understanding of processes in our surroundings. The programme provides both the theories of processes and the practical skills needed to collect and analyse data pertinent to processes in a broader environmental context, while still providing depth to prepare students for, for example, a PhD position.
The programme has links to a Nordic university cooperation and there are good opportunities to do exchanges within this consortium, in order to specialise in a specific direction. Courses in Lund are generally attended by a good mixture of international and national students, providing a very dynamic study environment.
Teachers are also very engaged in research activities, which assures that the students are able to follow the latest developments within the field."
