Kinesiska punktskriftens struktur : en studie i den taktila skriftens inträde och utveckling i kinesiska språket

Author

  • Joakim Svensson

Summary, in English

The nature of the Chinese written language does not allow straightforward transliteration into Braille by the standard methods used for Latin characters. For this reason, a detailed study has been carried out. This essay has outlined the history and transliteration procedure for the two recognized Braille formats in use in the People’s Republic of China: namely Current Braille and Two-cell Chinese Braille. The essay also illustrates difficulties in the transliteration process caused by romanization of the Chinese written language.
