Tertullian and Platonism - Some Remarks

Author

Summary, in English

The article adresses the issue of platonic philosophy in the writings of Tertullian. That this Latin Church Father was mainly influenced by Stoicism is a commonplace. Yet, the amount of direct and indirect reception of platonism should not be underestimated. It is further presupposed by the author that Tertullian does not deserve the reputation as an enemy of philosophy, which is the conventional wisdom of most textbooks.
