Control of fed-batch bioreactors. Part II

Author

Editor

  • Alessandro Astolfi

Summary, in English

This chapter addresses the control of glucose feeding in fed-batchreactors. The feeding strategy is based on a pulse technique, whichdoes not require a priori knowledge of the process. A feedbackalgorithm optimizes the feed rate with respect to the constraints ofaerobic conditions and overfeeding. Stability and performance analysisare performed on a simplified model of the reactor, using standard LMIoptimization routines. Tuning guidelines that help the user for thedesign are also derived.
