ECTS: European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System

Each course or programme you do is measured in credits. These are measured using the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System, or ECTS.

ECTS is being adopted throughout Europe, as part of the Bologna Process and enables studies to be easily compared for all students. The aim is to further student mobility and make recognition of your achievements easier.

ECTS is a student-centred system for describing an educational programme or course.

  • 60 ECTS credits are equal to the workload of a full-time student over one academic year.
  • One credit is the equivalent of approximately 25-30 hours of study.

The transcript of results that you receive from Lund University will record your academic accomplishments in ECTS.
