Physical Geography: Remote Sensing for Landscape Studies

Programme overview

  • Bachelor level course, Full time
  • Code: NGEA03
  • 15 credits
  • Lund Campus
  • Study period: 25 Mar 2013 – 09 Jun 2013

The course is an introduction to remote sensing, particularly the use of aerial photographs and image interpretation for collection of different environmental features. Radiation theory, image acquisition with different instruments (film-based and digital), image characteristics, multispectral images and reflection characteristics of different objects are covered in a theoretical base module of the course. Most of the image handling is done by computers using digital images and the students will acquire knowledge on how to combine digital images with digital data from other sources. The course also introduces satellite remote sensing and computer classification of satellite image data. The students will learn how to plan, execute and present (in oral and written form) a major image interpretation project.
