Physical Geography: Greenhouse Gases and the Carbon Cycle

Programme overview

  • Master level course, Full time
  • Code: NGEN04
  • 15 credits
  • Lund Campus
  • Study period: 02 Sep 2013 – 31 Oct 2013

The aim of the course is to offer in-depth knowledge within the field of ecosystem analysis particularly with regard to the physical processes of carbon cycling and the soil-plant-atmosphere exchange of greenhouse gases. Considerable emphasis is placed on the theory behind exchange processes and on practical exercises focusing on methods and instruments that are used to measure the exchange of greenhouse gases. Attention is given to the linkage to the labor market including e.g. the IPCC, politics, the Kyoto protocol, carbon accounting, importance of other greenhouse gases in carbon accounting, risk assessment of wetland restoration. Several exercises (field, computer, laboratory exercises) and excursions are included in the course.
