A global classroom, cross-disciplinary perspectives and an applied focus are key characteristics of the programme. Managing environmental issues in industry and government are the core themes, and consequently the programme covers the basics of environmental challenges, the opportunities in technical systems, organisational and managerial strategies, the economic background to law and policy, and the range of policy instruments at hand. Our graduates are trained to communicate effectively with all key stakeholders.
Research areas covered include product policy, energy and climate policy, sustainable consumption, energy-efficient buildings and various aspects of corporate environmental management. Within the programme students undertake a large number of study visits and exercises with industry and government partners.
The programme is structured such that the first year of study takes the form of online, part-time distance learning, which allows students to stay on at current jobs. Only the second year requires on-campus study in Lund. The coursework is intense and demanding, but also creates strong professional and personal networks. The alumni network forms a close-knit group of Lund University graduates who are happy to meet, share information and continue to work together. The IIIEE hosts regular alumni conferences to allow for updating of knowledge and networking.
Career prospects
The IIIEE MSc programme opens the door to a wide range of international environment-focused careers.
