Important thinkers to Innovation in Mind
09 July 2012
When Lund University and Region Skåne's innovation conference Innovation in Mind is held for the fourth consecutive year this September there will be many well-known names on the programme. This year the event will be expanded with a large number of workshops, round table discussions and open forums on various innovation-related topics. The personalities who will be appearing at Innovation in Mind include author, activist and Professor of Law Lawrence Lessig, who claims that copyright hinders innovation and creativity; entrepreneur Robin Chase, who has started a number of successful car-pooling businesses and got Americans to rethink their attitudes to car use; and Umair Haque, founder of the Havas Media Lab and named one of the world's 50 most important thinkers by Harvard Business Review, who claims that capitalism as we know it is dead. The jazz pianist, author and innovation strategist John Kao, named "Mr Creativity" by The Economist, will be a moderator at the conference. The achievements on his CV include touring as keyboardist with Frank Zappa!
The theme of this year's Innovation in Mind is "Unframe Innovation", and besides plenary sessions, the conference will also include a number of workshops and other exercises. The intention is to give new perspectives and eureka moments and to show how innovation processes can be improved by utilising knowledge from fields other than engineering, science and economics.
Venues for the workshops will include the Centre for Languages and Literature, and the Museum of Public Art will be a base for refreshments, networking and experiences.
Last year's Innovation in Mind attracted around 700 participants from all over the world to activities on and around the University Quadrangle (Universitetsplatsen).
A similar number of participants are expected this year. With so many people attending and almost 15 000 unique visitors to the website, innovationinmind.se.
Innovation in Mind is well on the way to being established as a leading arena for innovators and those interested in innovation from academia, industry, the arts and the public sector.
