Companies looking for Student of the year

Universum, a company that offers services and products to help employers attract, recruit and retain ideal talent while helping students and young professionals learn about ideal employers, is currently holding an open competition together with some of Sweden’s most well-known companies to search for the Student of the Year in a variety of categories. All finalists in each category will get a unique opportunity to visit the company, meet with key people and make important connections for his/her future career.

Engineering Student of the Year - ABB
To apply you need to be a genuinely interested, full-time engineering student at a Swedish higher education institution, who has a will to make a difference. In terms of personal qualities, you should be committed, innovative and skilled in creating relationships. You share the values of ABB in regards to responsibility, respect and determination. The winner will be able to win an international trip together with ABB. Previous trips have been to Turkey, India, China and the Czech Republic.

Innovative Thinker of the Year – Danske Bank
To apply you need to be a dedicated full-time student at a Swedish higher education institution, within finance, engineering or IT with a great interest in banking and finance. You are the type of person who look for out of the ordinary solutions. You are ambitious and eager to create business with a strong client focus, something that you can demonstrate through projects or assignments either as part of your studies, in your private life or through extra-curricular activities. The winner will receive a 6-month mentorship programme from a member of management at Danske Bank.

Economics Student of the Year – KPMG
To apply you need to be hands on, purposeful, have quality awareness and be a source of inspiration to other economics students. You need to study at a Swedish higher education institution. The winner will be able to show good results from leading a project, assignment or team in business, university studies, sports, student union involvement or other commitments. The winner will receive a place on the leadership course ACCELERATOR Business Skills Program by Novare Accelerate, a programme which is aimed at top young talent with potential and ambition to become the leaders and specialists of tomorrow. The purpose is to provide training in practical leadership and business acumen over the course of a year. The 10 best candidates will be interviewed by KPMG’s recruitment team. Five candidates will then be invited to give a presentation of themselves at KMPG during a finalist day.

Female IT Student of the Year – Microsoft

To apply you need to have a great interest in IT, be driven and entrepreneurial and study IT, computer science or media full time at a Swedish higher education institution. You also have to have achieved good study results. The winner will be able to take part in several different events during the year – you therefore need to still be a student during 2013.

Marketer of the Year – L’Oréal
To apply you need to be a creative business student with an interest in marketing. You need to be communicative and entrepreneurial with a strong drive and creative ideas. The winner will win an internship at L’Oréal's head office in Alvik.

Real Estate Student of the Year – Skandiamäklarna
To apply you need to study real estate management full-time at a Swedish higher education institution. Your need to be a driven and socially talented student and be involved in extra-curricular activities. You must have an ability to build relationships. You value quality and exude joy, while being passionate about evolving as an estate agent. You share the values of Skandiamäklarna; respect, commitment and humility. As the winner you will receive unique sales training with qualified sales coach Krister Stånggren. All finalists will also be invited to Skandimäklarna’s office on 21 February. Job opportunities will be available through individual interviews.

Social Innovator of the Year – City of Helsingborg

To apply you need to have a desire to make a difference in the area in which you live and have an idea about how you can improve the municipality. Your academic background is of less importance; the drive to want to create greater value for the inhabitants is what is most important. The only criterion is that you are a student at a higher education institution in Sweden. To apply you need to write down your idea of how to improve the municipality (maximum 2 A4 pages) and attach it to the application form.
The winner will be invited to the City of Helsingborg head office to learn more about the city’s development work. You will also present your idea to the management and meet the interns on the Skåne Nordväst trainee programme.
