Specific subject description
This position is linked to the research area on Globalization of Innovation. Research in the Globalization of Innovation area at CIRCLE focuses on the global dimension of innovation processes. The aim of this research area is to conceptualize global innovation networks (GINs) and to understand the dynamics and impact of global innovation networks on firms and regions. Of particular interest is analyzing the interplay between micro (firm) and meso (region) characteristics and different forms of GINs including global research collaboration, global sourcing of knowledge and offshoring of R&D and innovation, as well as their impact in terms of innovation, wellbeing and growth. More information can be found at www.circle.lu.se Successful applicants for the position shall have conducted and published high quality research within the field of Globalization of Innovation in a broad sense. This includes the following subfields:
-Research on global production and innovation networks
- Research on Internationalization of R&D (including offshoring of R&D)
- Research on Emerging multinationals and Born-global SMEs and innovation
- Research on Global sourcing of knowledge and technology
Core competence in one of these areas is required and the sub-fields are considered equally important. Preference will be given to applicants with competence and interest in more than one of these sub-fields.
Job assignments
The task associated with this position is primarily research. The holder of the position is expected to contribute to the research area on globalization of innovation and to the following projects:
-Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Knowledge Creation – Dynamics in Globalizing Learning Economies, funded by the Swedish Research Council within the framework of the Linneaus Research Programme.
-Transformation and Growth in Innovation Systems: Innovation Policy for Global Competitiveness of SMEs and R&I Milieus, funded by VINNOVA within the framework of Core Funding of Centers for Innovation Systems Research.

The applicants are encouraged to specify in their applications how they can contribute to the development of the research area and these projects.
Other duties for this position are to attract external funding for additional research, organization of research activities (such as conferences, special sessions, seminars and workshops) and supervision. The holder of the position may also be involved in teaching – in English or Swedish – at CIRCLE or at other centres and departments of Lund University. CIRCLE operates in English, and most courses offered by CIRCLE are also taught in English. Another duty is to pursue third task activities, i.e. to cooperate with society and to provide information on research and education. Finally, the successful candidate will be expected to participate in the day-to-day activities at CIRCLE.
Eligibility/Entry Requirements
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3-4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
To be eligible for the position as senior lecturer (associate professor) the applicant must have a PhD in a relevant research area and a strong research record, as well as documented teaching skills. The ability to interact with the surrounding community and to inform about research and development work will also be taken into account. An additional requirement is the ability to teach in English.

In the assessment of the applicants, special importance will be given to academic qualifications in research on global production and innovation networks, Internationalization of R&D (including offshoring of R&D), Emerging multinationals and Born-global SMEs and innovation and Global sourcing of knowledge and technology

The following criteria will constitute the basis for the assessment of applicants for the position:
- Documented ability to conduct research of high international quality
- A strong publication record during and after completing the PhD
- Documented ability attract research funding and to initiate, organize and carry research projects and activities, individually as well as in cooperation with others
- Pedagogical abilities and skills
- Documented ability to engage and inform society at large, in relation to research, educational and developmental activities
- Ability to work in teams and collaborate with others
Experience of working in interdisciplinary environments and taking a proactive role in the development of research ideas and activities will be considered merits.
