One of the focus areas of FAS (the Swedish Council for Working Life and Social Research) is strong research environments, known as FAS centres. Support for FAS centres is in addition to the universities’ basic resources and facilitates long-term, strategic investment in research that has the potential to rejuvenate the field.
There are two FAS centres at Lund University: CASE and METALUND.
CASE - the Centre for Ageing and Supportive Environments (website in Swedish), is a FAS centre in Lund which focuses on the elderly and the environments in which they live. How should the external environment, public transport and housing be designed to support activity and health in later life?
The second FAS centre is METALUND – the Centre for Medicine and Technology for Working Life and Society (website in Swedish). This research group brings together medical and engineering expertise and focuses exclusively on identifying risk factors in the working environment and the external environment which affect human health.
