 sand-year-old runic inscriptions? In the museum entrance stands four runic
 - and pictorial stones from the area of Ystad – the so-called Hunnestad 
 Monument. Erected around 985–1035 this is considered the most impressive
  monument from the Scanian Viking Age and in this tour we decipher the run
 ic inscriptions\, interpret the pictorial motifs and the dramatic historic
 al context in which the stones were erected. We encounter puzzling mytholo
 gical motifs\, Byzantine warriors and signs of the arrival of a new religi
