”I left the internship with a job offer”
Nefti-Eboni Bempong did a traineeship in order to see which area of her field she wanted to pursue a career and to increase her employability. She got her first job because of the internship.
Why did you choose to do a traineeship?
I chose to do a traineeship to gain international experience and to further navigate which area within the field of public health I wanted to pursue a career and also to increase my employability. I learned many new methodological skills related to scientific research, became familiarised with the publication process and even left the internship with a job offer.
What did you do during your traineeship?
I conducted a systematic literature review focused on population-based tobacco control and social inequalities, linked to the same topic as my thesis.
Which part of the internship was the most interesting?
Learning more about research publication. Also, the travel opportunities that arose through the internship.
Did the traineeship affect your future career?
I landed my first graduate job as a direct result of my internship. Additionally, I managed to meet many different experts in the field and gained more knowledge.
Do you have any advice for future trainees?
Just make sure you prepare everything in advance! Good luck with everything!
