Capacity building programmes on Agenda 2030 at Lund University

The capacity building programmes are aimed at international professionals and will contribute to the fulfillment of the global goals for sustainable development.

Lund University, in cooperation with external partners, will implement the following three programmes: Sustainable Inclusive and Climate-Resilient Cities, Land is Life and Sexual Gender-based Violence and Human Rights in Uganda. Two of these programmes are presented below.

Sustainable Inclusive and Climate-Resilient Cities


The programme Sustainable Inclusive and Climate-Resilient Cities is provided by CEC – the Centre for Environmental and Climate Research at Lund University, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute and SKL International in collaboration with LUCE, the Department for Commissioned Education at Lund University. The programme will focus on SDG11 – sustainable cities and communities. Areas covered are for instance meeting safe, inclusive and accessible green areas and public places. There will be 24 participants in total per programme round from Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Turkey. The target group is municipal and regional service professionals with four to five years of work experience.

Duration of the programme: May–December 2019
Dates in Sweden: 2–13 September 2019
Target countries: Indonesia, Zimbabwe, Kenya and Turkey

Participants’ organisations are responsible for paying for visa to enter Sweden. The trip to Sweden and accommodation are included in the programme.

Land is Life


The programme Land is Life aims to train future leaders and decision-makers from across Africa (Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia and Uganda) to build knowledge, understand measurement and develop leadership on SDG15 – Ecosystem and biodiversity.

The supplier is LUCSUS (Lund University Center for Sustainability Studies) together with the Department of Cultural Geography and Economic Geography, the Department of Political Science, the School of Economics, the Department of Natural Geography and Ecosystem Science, and LUCE (the Department of Commissioned Education at Lund University).

Duration of the programme: May–December 2019
Dates in Kenya: 6–21 June 2019
Dates in Sweden: 5–13 September 2019
Target countries: Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Zambia, and Uganda

Participants’ organisations are responsible for paying for visa to enter Sweden. The trip to Sweden and accommodation are included in the programme.
