About the Programme

The capacity development programme Land is Life at Lund University focuses on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15 – Life on Land – of Agenda 2030.

The purpose of Land is Life is to build and strengthen the participants’ capacity and skills in identifying and leveraging the synergies that sustainable land management and the governance of land resources may contribute to related development sectors. These synergies include the reduction of food insecurity, improvements in health and nutrition, promotion of gender equality and women’s empowerment, sustainable environmental management, and enhanced adaptation to climate change.

Land is Life consists of a pre-course assignment with independent studies and tasks, a two-week module in Kisumu, Kenya, a ten-day module in Lund, Sweden, and a follow-up workshop in Nairobi, Kenya. In-between the training modules, the participants develop cases on an individual basis guided by a mentor via the web.

The programme is developed and hosted by LUCSUS (Lund University Center for Sustainability Studies) together with five other departments at Lund University, Lund University Commissioned Education, and international partners. It is financed by the Swedish Institute.
