Why did you choose Lund University?
Lund University hosts one of the world's largest research environments in economic history and economic demography.
I have had the pleasure of visiting several times and know many of Lund's faculty in the economic history department as leading researchers in their field.
Can you briefly describe your current research?
I am an economist studying topics in labor economics and economic history.
I am particularly interested in estimating trends in inequality and intergenerational mobility and the role of education and female labor force participation in shaping individuals' economic outcomes.
Much of my work considers the development of the Norwegian economy from the late nineteenth century until present day.
What will be your main research focus during your time at Lund University?
I hope to contribute to the research already being done by the great group in Lund, to learn more about key differences and similarities between the Swedish and Norwegian paths of development, to improve measurement of economic outcomes and trends over time, and to come up with new research ideas in the economics of long-run inequality, intergenerational mobility, and economic development.
Lund Global Visiting Professors' Programme is part of the Lund University Programme for Global Excellence, which is the University’s largest international recruitment initiative to date.
