Why did you choose Lund University?
I chose Lund University because of its rich, international and multidisciplinary research environment, and for its strong research environment at the faculty of law. This environment attracted me because of my comparative research interests in the intersections between criminal law and mental health.
I was also attracted by the possibility to develop and strengthen collaborations with researchers based on the law faculty and other faculties at Lund university.
Can you briefly describe your current research?
My current research focuses on how criminal law conceives of people with mental disorders and disabilities. I am interested in how decisions about criminal responsibility relate to psychiatric notions of mental disorders.
I have recently started an ERC consolidator project to investigate this matter across 20 jurisdictions. My current research also includes specific issues concerning criminal responsibility for children with mental disorders.
What will be your main research focus during your time at Lund University?
During my time at Lund University, I will primarily be associated with the research group in criminal law at the Faculty of Law. My main research focus will be on criminal responsibility in a comparative and multidisciplinary perspective, as described above. I will also focus on methodological questions for empirical and comparative legal studies.
