What Jared says about the Master's in Service Management, Retail
Jared Offei Lartey from Ghana
What is the best thing about your programme?
"I think the best thing about my programme is the research skills I have been endowed with and the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from culturally different people. I now feel more competent to work anywhere."
Why did you choose the specialisation Retail?
"I chose the Retail specialisation because it was very commensurate with my Bachelor's programme in marketing, and I have been wanting to gain knowledge about the management of retail organisations, especially when it comes to issues related to consumption, sustainability and digitalisation."
What do you think of the teaching style within the programme?
"My teachers have excellent explanatory skills! Also, the teaching style encourages me to learn new things by myself, reflect on readings and share my ideas with colleagues during seminars. I find this beautiful."
What do you plan to do after your studies?
"With the experience I have gained so far and the interests I have developed in service science, I intend to pursue doctoral studies after this programme."
What do you do in your spare time?
"I love to spend time in the public library, watch movies and have music lessons in my free time."
What is it like to live in Sweden and what have you learnt from it so far?
"So far, I appreciate how responsive systems are in Sweden, for example, public transport, services and in my campus. I think I am surrounded by very friendly people. I have learned how important it is to consider different perspectives and I have become more culturally aware. There is still much to learn for me."
Do you have any advice for students considering to study at Lund University or Campus Helsinborg?
"My advice is to prepare yourself for an immersive study experience – there is a great student life, and you get empathy and support from the University here, but to make the most of your time here, you should be ready to be a part of creating it."
