Hello! My name is Mariami and I am a student ambassador for the Master’s programme in Energy Efficient and Environmental Building Design. I will be delighted to guide you through student life in Lund and Sweden and answer your questions about the study programme, courses, my experience, and other activities. Please note that I cannot provide information regarding the application process, admission criteria, or scholarships.
My experience so far
Before I started my Master's studies in Lund, I was studying architecture at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts, in Georgia. During my studies, I was always interested in new challenges in building industries; I wanted to learn more about environmentally friendly buildings and I intended to take my architectural knowledge to the next level. I started looking for Master's programmes in this field and found that Sweden is one of the most advanced countries when it comes to energy-efficient buildings. Since Lund University had a very high ranking and the EEEBD courses where exactly what I wanted to learn, I decided to study here. I think this was one of the best decisions of my life.
So far, I am very satisfied with my programme. It is very diverse and full of interesting assignments and lab works. In my opinion, the best thing about EEEBD is that theoretical courses are complemented with practical modules, in which we can apply and test our new knowledge. Usually, we work in teams and assess the impact of various design alternatives with the help of the manual calculations and simulation software. In future blogs, I am going to share more info about my study programme.
The most important thing you need to know before you arrive in Helsingborg is that the weather here can change every five minutes from rainy to sunny, so you always need to have your umbrella with you! Also, a raincoat could be very useful, especially when you are going to commute by bicycle.
