Introducing Mohammad Mehdi
Hi! My name is Mohammad Mehdi and I'm the student ambassador for the Master's programme in Sustainable Urban Design. I am happy to answer any questions you might have about the programme, courses, student life, and life in Lund and Sweden via the Unibuddy Platform, where you can chat with me (see below). Please note that I cannot answer questions about the application process, scholarships, or residence permits.
About the programme and the teaching style
Why did you choose Lund University?
"One of the good reasons for this is that Lund University and Sweden are well-known in sustainability! My field of study is related to sustainable development, and I think Sweden is the perfect place to learn and live green."
What do you think of your programme so far?
"My programme focuses on urban design with a sustainability approach. In that sense, it’s a multidisciplinary study. Most of the time it’s up to you to learn and establish your project. However, a good study environment with professors and tutors is helpful in that way."
What is the best thing about your programme?
"In my programme, we have different project locations each semester, and you can have a study trip for that. Additionally, I've experienced many lectures from top-notch offices related to my studies which significantly helped me in the design process."
How international is your programme?
"Most of us come from different countries around the world! In this programme, you will need to find solutions with sustainable purposes which sometimes our different backgrounds implement creative strategies."
Have you been able to gain any practical experience during your studies?
"Each semester, we worked on physical models for presentation. So, I've gained hands-on experience working with laser machines, 3D printing, and wood workshops, which were amazing practices. In addition, there are other different workshops and robot machines available for everyone to use based on their own needs."
Why should prospective students choose this programme?
"The Sustainable Urban Design programme blends landscape, sustainability, and urban design principles. It offers students hands-on experience in a country celebrated for its sustainability efforts and equips them to design vibrant, cohesive urban spaces."
