Description

Our research group investigates phenomenology, psychosocial factors, genetic factors, and environmental factors in child and adolescent psychiatric disorders. We use an epidemiological approach with genetic-social surveys and prospective long-term follow-up studies (including controls). Other research projects are grounded in everyday clinical practice and study the natural course of child psychiatry disorders with the aim to propose more adequate interventions. There is a lack of prospective studies on long-term outcome of problematic psychiatric behaviours and symptoms in childhood, and studies on the pattern of cross over between different psychiatric disorders. Adopting a transdiagnostic approach is useful for the understanding of psychiatric comorbidity. The focus of our research is on neurodevelopmental disorders with impairing problems with attention, impulsivity, social skills, behaviour, mood, eating disturbances, and the longitudinal development into adult psychiatry.
