Description

The current research aims at understanding the mechanisms behind different lung diseases. We mainly investigate allergic and exercise-induced asthma, COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), bronchopulmonary dysplasia (lung deficiencies in prematurely born babies) and lung transplanted patents. Through extensive lung physiology testing (also in the inaccessible peripheral airways) we have the possibility to thoroughly investigate the patients and thereafter explore its relationship to inflammatory biomarkers and cellular mechanisms behind. We are using non-invasive methodology, such as exhaled biomarkers and induced sputum, to study inflammation and collect lung specific biomarkers and cells, which is further explored in relation to pathophysiology in the airways.
