Description

Recent advances in stroke treatment has provided effective tools to successfully treat ischemic stroke, but most patient still arrive too late to benefit from treatment. Early stroke detection and diagnostics are therefore essential in modern stroke care to improve treatment outcome by enabling expansion of reperfusion treatment to a larger portion of stroke patients. It was the frustration of having access to an effective treatment, but only a minor portion of the patients arriving in time to benefit from it, that sparked our team to form and search for novel methods for early and effective stroke indication and diagnostics. Region Skåne is an ideal place to develop and implement such new methods since the University, the University Hospital and leading tech companies are all within walking distance to facilitate collaborative efforts. – Our overall aim is to increase the proportion of patients treated for acute stroke by improving tools for early indication and diagnostics.
