Abstract
The purpose of this essay is to achieve deeper knowledge of the positive and negative ideals which apply to the sovereigns that occur in Karlskrönikan, a production of propaganda ordered by the Swedish king Karl Knutsson in the 15: th century. Using the hermeneutic circle as a methodological device has enabled me to to approach the material as openly as possible to let the Karlskrönikan itself show me the right questions. I’ve used political culture as a theoretical instrument to be able to analyze the chronicles political worth as a work of propaganda. My results are that the positive and negative ideals, respectively, follows a perceptible pattern. Subsequently, I conclude how Karl Knutsson has used these patterns to affect the political culture which affects him.
