The winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature 2012 was the Chinese author Mo Yan. One of his published books is Jiuguo, a book that is said to describe the corruption in China with a satirical tone. The aim of this thesis is to analyse how Mo Yan is portraying the Chinese drinking culture and to what extent it reflects reality.
