Science Village Scandinavia – SVS
Science Village Scandinavia (SVS), an 18-hectare area between MAX IV and ESS, is situated in the north-east of Lund and forms part of the new city district of Brunnshög.
Lund University plans to have premises for research and education on this site – several of them with links to MAX IV and ESS – and has now commenced work to establish operations in the area. Science Village Scandinavia will be expanded over the next ten years with new constructions, including:
- guest accommodation
- research institutes
- restaurants and cafés
The vision for the area is for it to be a dynamic, creative and sustainable district that stimulates innovative research and provides an interface between this research and wider society.
Science Village Scandinavia AB
Science Village Scandinavia AB owns the land between MAX IV and ESS. The company, which is owned by the City of Lund, Region Skåne and Lund University through the foundation Stiftelsen Akademihemman, was formed in 2009 with the aim to promote the research facilities.
The company’s main task is to develop the land for construction and to sell the construction rights. Another important task is to promote the creation of a Science Centre in the area that will explain and visualise the research conducted at ESS and MAX IV.
