Why did you choose Lund University?

I visited Lund University in November 2018 to attend a workshop on social media and polarization. It was a wonderful experience. I made strong connections that led to publications with scholars at Lund University. I am looking forward to working with more scholars at Lund University.

Can you briefly describe your current research?

My research examines the global dynamics of digital media use for citizen engagement in civic and political life. I am finishing the publication of a series of books/articles about social media and collective action.

What will be your main research focus during your time at Lund University?

I will be focused on the study of AI: 1) public opinion about AI (anxiety/panic, acceptable uses, role in misinformation) and 2) examining how AI could be used to help in systematic literature reviews and meta-analyses studies. I am also working on two policy issues: Meta's news ban in Canada and social media bans for teenagers (in Australia and spreading to other countries).

Lund Global Visiting Professors' Programme is part of the Lund University Programme for Global Excellence, which is the University’s largest international recruitment initiative to date.
