BINP17
The course BINP17 is the first course in the bioinformatics programme, providing an introduction to bioinformatics with a focus on sequence analysis. You will explore Linux systems, key concepts in cell biology, and the theoretical and practical foundations of bioinformatics.
Course literature
The course literature listed may be updated up to eight weeks before the course begins.
Course literature BINP17 (PDF, New tab)This course combines theory and hands-on practice, covering cell biology, bioinformatics algorithms, and Linux-based exercises. You will learn to use remote servers for complex analyses and prepare for various fields within bioinformatics.
The course BINP17, complemented with additional bioinformatics courses such as the Python programming, builds a strong foundation for research in modern day life science research. Most research areas are becoming increasingly data driven making knowledge in bioinformatics a highly sought-after skill.

A research focused education and lively study environment
At the Department of Biology, students in biology, molecular biology and bioinformatics study together in a shared environment. Here you can learn about everything from genes and molecules to ecosystems and behaviour, closely linked to ongoing research. Teaching takes place in modern laboratories or in the field. All the lecturers are active and internationally recognised researchers. This creates a unique learning experience where studies and research go hand in hand.
