Discover the molecular mechanisms behind tumour development. You will learn how normal cells transform into tumour cells and explore tumours as complex organs made up of different cell types. The course also covers key aspects of diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment strategies, as well as the tools that drive future research. Linked to current studies, it uses textbooks and original research literature.
The course is organised around weekly themes that combine lectures, group exercises, and method discussions. Each theme will include lectures or seminars led by experienced cancer researchers, for which you are expected to prepare and critically analyse material in advance. You will engage in exercises focused on reading and interpreting scientific articles, identifying key content, and delivering oral presentations at journal clubs connected to the topics studied during the course. In a group assignment, you will apply your knowledge of tumour biology research and development. You are expected to be well prepared and to participate constructively in discussions during journal clubs, group exercises and the group assignment.
