You get a comprehensive overview of the history and evolution of international trade. We will explore the historical developments of trade patterns and link them to how trade theories have evolved over time. Global trade patterns have undergone significant changes throughout history, and the theories decribing trade have evolved in response. This has led to an increasingly sophisticated and nuanced understanding of international trade in today's world.
You explore the key economic mechanisms that explain why international trade occurs and how various factors influence trade patterns between countries. A central focus is to understand the gains and losses that international trade give rise to. This includes how trade can promote economic growth while also affecting income inequality between groups or regions.
Once you have developed a solid theoretical foundation, you are introduced to a range of trade policy instruments and measures that governments use to influence trade flows. You also examine the importance of negotiations and trade agreements between countries. In this way, you gain insight into the political frameworks that shape the global trading system and contribute to international economic cooperation.
