The specialisation European and International Tax Law monitors how, primarily EU tax law, influences European trade and the freedoms of the internal market, but also how tariffs affect trade and public income. The core of the specialisation European and International Tax Law is the understanding and application of tax law, not least from the Court of Justice of the EU. The specialisation starts with a general course on EU internal market law and continues with specialised courses in both direct and indirect tax. Students are expected to have a reasonable understanding of tax law from the undergraduate studies. All courses in this specialisation are mandatory.

Students who have graduated from the specialisation have taken up positions as senior tax analysts or consultants with tax advisers or as inhouse tax advisers in international companies. Others have continued by pursuing an academic career by conducting doctoral studies in Sweden or abroad.
