In Fundamental Cognitive Neuroscience, you will learn about these processes as well as other complex phenomena such as consciousness, brain structure and how we change as we age. The course provides a comprehensive introduction to the subject of cognitive neuroscience and is aimed at both students and professionals in, for example, healthcare or education.

Course literature VMFB38 (PDF, New tab)The course is taught in English, part-time, and on campus in Lund. Over a period of about six weeks, the course covers perception, attention, how memory works, emotions, higher cognitive function, communication and our view of others. All based on what we know about the brain today.
Upon completion of the course, you are expected to have a basic understanding of cognitive neuroscience. This knowledge can be considered relevant to understanding contemporary research in a range of fields, as well as benefiting the individual's understanding of their own internal processes as well as the behaviors of others.

Selection criteria
Priority is given to applicants who have applied before deadline and are registered to a course or a programme at Lunds University the semester before this course starts. After that seats are allocated according to the following: The general average (GPA) of your higher secondary school leaving certificate: 34 %, The Swedish national university aptitude test: 34 %, number of previous ECTS at application deadline (up to 165): 32 %. If students have equal credentials, seats are allocated based on their results on The Swedish National University Aptitude Test. If this too is equal, seats are allocated based on a draw.
Tuition fees for non-EU/EEA citizens
Citizens of countries outside:
- The European Union (EU)
- The European Economic Area (EEA) and
- Switzerland
are required to pay tuition fees. You pay an instalment of the tuition fee in advance of each
semester.
