GIS: Geographical Information Systems - Introduction 2

This course provides a broad theoretical foundation for working with digital geographic data, focusing on the representation and analysis of spatial elements. You will explore general geographic issues within environmental and societal contexts through practical GIS applications, addressing both Swedish and international conditions at various scales, from local to regional.

The course is entirely online, and you can study at your own pace, either full-time or part-time. The teaching is divided into thematic modules that align with the course’s learning objectives. You’ll have access to recorded video lectures and reading materials through a digital learning platform. Each module includes both theoretical and practical assignments to help you understand and apply the course content. All assignments are mandatory.

Prerequisites

Entry to the course requires GISA23 Geographic information systems - introduction 1, 7.5 credits or the equivalent knowledge acquired in a different way.

Selection criteria

Seats are allocated according to the following: The general average (GPA) of your higher secondary school leaving certificate: 34 %, The Swedish national university aptitude test: 34 %, number of previous ECTS at the application deadline (up to 165): 32 %.
