The Population Studies specialisation examines how shifts in population affect economies and social systems worldwide. You will study demographic transitions, mortality trends, migration patterns, and health issues, and learn how these processes influence labour markets, welfare systems, and public policy. The specialisation combines theoretical foundations with methodological training in demographic analysis and statistics. You will work with real data, develop advanced quantitative skills, and learn to interpret complex demographic patterns. The first year builds broad knowledge of socioeconomic aspects of demography, while the second year offers opportunities for specialised tutorials. This specialisation equips you for careers in research, policy analysis, insurance, and planning, addressing global challenges such as ageing populations, migration flows, and health inequalities.
