This course provides you with specialised knowledge of research methods in the field of Human Rights Studies. You will learn about both qualitative and quantitative methods, with a particular focus on qualitative methods used in multidisciplinary research. Additionally, you will study research ethics, including principles of good scientific practice, regulations for ethics review, and procedures for addressing misconduct. After the course, you will have gained a deeper understanding of research methods in the multidisciplinary field of Human Rights Studies as well as ethical standards in good research practice.  

Teaching methods include lectures and seminars where you will explore research methods and ethical principles. You will gain a deep understanding of qualitative approaches and study the ethical standards and regulations that govern research practices. You will also learn how to design a research proposal.  

The course can normally be included in a first or second cycle degree. If you want to continue studying human rights, you can study stand-alone courses in Human Rights Studies up to 60 credits.

15 ECTS credits within the Masters programme in Human Rights Studies (HAMRS), or a Bachelor?s degree within the field of humanities or social sciences with a bachelor thesis oriented towards human rights studies and completed second cycle courses of at least 15 ECTS credits. English 6/English course B.
