Large language models such as ChatGPT, Gemeni, LLAMA, and similar systems are increasingly used in business, education, and everyday life. In this course, you will gain a basic conceptual understanding of how they function and what they can (and cannot) do.

You will learn about the principles behind LLMs, as well as practical techniques for interacting with them effectively through prompt engineering and context engineering. The course also addresses common pitfalls, challenges, and ethical concerns when using LLMs in different settings.

Designed as an online, independent-study course, it is open to students from all backgrounds and requires no prior technical knowledge.

The course is delivered entirely online and is designed for independent study. The course period is flexible and you decide your own pace of study. You will learn through a combination of:

Your knowledge will be assessed through an online quiz.

General requirements and studies equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary School courses English 6/English level 2

Selection criteria

Seats are allocated according to the following: The general average (GPA) of your higher secondary school leaving certificate: 34 %, The Swedish national university aptitude test: 34 %, number of previous ECTS at application deadline (up to 165): 32 %. If students have equal credentials, seats are allocated based on their results on The Swedish National University Aptitude Test. If this too is equal, seats are allocated based on a draw.
