Today, few organisations, public or private, remain unaffected by digitalisation. As a future manager, you need both hard and soft skills, along with the right tools, to navigate digital business and transformation.
This course provides insights into the technological and managerial landscape shaped by information technologies. Understanding topics ranging from decentralised strategies to managing digital systems is essential for leadership and management today. The course covers key aspects of managing digitalisation, including digital business models and strategies, planning, processes, integration, as well as change management and the diffusion of innovation. During the lectures, you will explore the following broad themes:
- What is digitalisation and digital business? Learn what digitalisation means, how it operates within organisations, and how digital innovations drive transformation in business and society.
- Digital capabilities and competences. Discover how organisations use digital tools to strengthen capabilities, gain a competitive edge, and successfully implement digital initiatives.
- Managing and governing digital transformation. Understand the opportunities and challenges of digitalisation and how it affects business operations and management practices.

Course literature INFE02 (PDF, New tab)Lectures are combined with workshops and seminars. You will work on cases, applying theories to analyse the impact of digitalisation in different contexts. The aim is to reflect on the consequences of digitalisation across various environments. Your learning will be assessed through individual and group assignments, project work and an article reflection seminar.
On completion of the course, you will have gained a thorough understanding of how digitalisation affects organisations and how to manage digital transformation effectively.
Prerequisites
Admission to the course requires general requirements and English 6 as well as courses of 30 credits in a business-related subject area or the equivalent. An exception for the general entry requirement in Swedish will be granted when the course is given in English.
Selection criteria
Seats are allocated according to the following: The general average (GPA) of your higher secondary school leaving certificate: 34 %, The Swedish national university aptitude test: 34 %, number of previous ECTS at the application deadline (up to 165): 32 %.
Tuition fees for non-EU/EEA citizens
Citizens of countries outside:
- The European Union (EU)
- The European Economic Area (EEA) and
- Switzerland
are required to pay tuition fees. You pay an instalment of the tuition fee in advance of each
semester.
