International Business: Corporate Finance

In this course, you will gain a broad understanding of international financial management with emphasis on the company’s relations to the external world. The course has an international corporate perspective, and you will learn about the vital role of financial planning and management in a dynamic and competitive environment.

You will develop the ability to judge and analyse the financial challenges companies face and how to respond to these. You will learn how to identify, judge and contribute to companies’ adaptations to ongoing changes in financial management.

The course begins with an introduction to international financial management, with a focus on the role of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). You will then work with the following topics:

• financial planning and control, including working capital management

• theoretical foundation of portfolio theory and theories on return and

risk

• capital structure and dividend policy

• capital needs and access to capital in different company phases, including the possibilities to efficiently manage the cost of capital

• corporate governance

• valuation models including models for corporate and stock valuation

• financial instruments
