This course introduces central traditions in organisation and leadership studies. You will learn about the key concepts and perspectives needed to analyse organisational phenomena and understand the challenges that managers and employees might face.
The course covers themes such as:
- motivation
- culture
- control
- leadership
- organisational design
You will develop both analytical skills (problem-identifying) and decision-making skills (problem-solving) required in complex situations. You will also practise argumentation and presentation.

Course literature IBUA41 (PDF, New tab)A central idea in the course is to connect theory to practice. Case studies are the main tool for this work. By analysing real organisational situations from different perspectives, you will learn to use theory in a reflective and critical way.
Teaching is organised around lectures and seminars that require active participation through discussions and presentations. You will also work on group assignments in multicultural teams, which supports your seminar work and reflects real organisational settings.
Prerequisites
General requirements and studies equivalent to Swedish Upper Secondary School courses English 6/English level 2, Mathematics 3b or 3c/Mathematics further level 1b or further level 1c, and Social Studies 1b or 1a1+1a2/Social Studies level 1b or level 1a2
