Languages may seem vastly different, but they often share surprising similarities. This course introduces you to key grammatical features found in languages around the world. You’ll explore how these features can be explained. By comparing languages, you’ll gain insights into how grammar works and how it shapes communication, including in your own language.

These exercises are designed to help you apply what you’ve learned and think critically about grammar across languages. The course ends with a written assignment that brings together your understanding of the topics covered.
This course builds a strong foundation for further studies in linguistics, language education, translation, or language technology. It also helps develop analytical skills useful in fields like communication, research, and international work. Understanding how languages function globally can open doors to careers that require cross-cultural competence and linguistic insight.

90 ECTS credits, of which at least 60 ECTS credits in a language discipline or Linguistics (General Linguistics or Phonetics). English course 6 (advanced proficiency)
