Application dates

In this course, you'll explore literary theories and methods used in research on literature. You'll learn to analyse literary texts from different perspectives – focusing on the human element, language, and reality in literature. By connecting theory to real questions, you'll develop your ability to think critically and independently about literature’s role in society.

You’ll also get the chance to apply these theories to texts of your own choosing, making the course both personal and practical.

Course literature

The course literature listed may be updated up to eight weeks before the course begins.

The teaching is conducted through lectures, seminars, workshops, and individual supervision. You’ll actively participate in discussions and receive support in developing your own analyses. Seminars and workshops offer a great opportunity to test your ideas in dialogue with others.

The assessment is based on both oral and written assignments, where you demonstrate your ability to apply theories in practice and reflect on their significance.

The course is included in the Master's (120 credits) programme Literature – Culture – Media. It is also offered as a freestanding course and can be included in a first or second cycle degree.
